AI search engine that answers questions with numbered links to the pages it used, so you can check the source.
Perplexity is an answer engine: you ask a question in plain language and it replies with a short answer and numbered citations to the web pages it drew on. For travel research that format is useful, because the citations show at once whether an answer rests on an official tourism board, a transport operator or a forum post from years ago.
Writers use it to get oriented on a destination, find the official page for a museum or a ferry, and collect background before an interview. Follow-up questions keep the thread of a research session together.
The answer itself is only a summary. Open the cited pages, check the dates on them, and confirm anything practical, such as prices, seasons and entry rules, with the operator or the official source before you publish it.
