A week of travel can produce hours of footage and only a few minutes that belong in a finished video. Editing is where most travel creators spend their time, and AI features now take over the slowest parts: finding the usable clips, writing captions, cleaning up wind noise and cutting a long vlog into short pieces for social feeds.
CapCut is where many creators start, because the phone app can produce a captioned vertical reel on the evening of the shoot. Descript takes a different route and lets you edit a talking-head video by editing its transcript, so cutting a rambling sentence is as easy as deleting it from the text. Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are the full editors for longer films, with AI help for captions, audio cleanup and masking, and Resolve's color tools are a strength when footage was shot in very different light across a trip.
OpusClip works after the main edit. Give it a long video and it suggests short clips, adds captions and reframes them for vertical screens. Runway offers AI video generation and effects. A generated shot can fill a gap or make a title sequence, but it shows a place that does not exist, so label it clearly and keep it out of anything presented as a record of the trip.
Check music and footage rights before you publish, especially for sponsored content, since licenses that cover a personal post often do not cover paid work. Review every automatic caption too: place names, local words and accents are where speech recognition tends to slip.

Professional video editor with AI tools for speech-to-text captions, audio cleanup and scene detection.
Plan the edit before you film more than you think you need. A rough shot list for each day, such as an opening view, arrival, a meal, a conversation and an evening scene, makes a usable story far more likely than hours of random clips. Record a few seconds of quiet room tone and ambient sound at each location; editors use it to smooth cuts and cover gaps.
Keep your project files and original footage organized by date and place. Clients, sponsors and editors sometimes ask for a different cut months later, and finding the right clips quickly is worth the extra minutes on the road.
Back up footage every night to a second drive or cloud storage. A lost card at the end of a trip costs more than any editing tool.
Yes. CapCut's mobile app handles cuts, music and captions for short videos. For longer films most creators move to a desktop editor such as DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.
They are a good start but rarely perfect. Read through them before posting, and fix names of places, dishes and people, which speech recognition often gets wrong.
Only if it is clearly labeled and not presented as the real place. Generated shots can work for titles or illustrations, but viewers planning a trip expect footage you actually filmed.
DaVinci Resolve has a free version that covers most independent work, and CapCut, Descript and OpusClip have free plans with limits. Check what each free plan adds, such as watermarks or export caps.
