DeepL is a machine translation service from a German company, used for text, whole documents and, through its apps, for text in the browser and on the phone. Travel writers use it to read local sources in other languages, translate interview notes, and draft versions of their own articles for readers in another language.
It also offers DeepL Write, an assistant that suggests rewrites in a single language, and an API for teams that translate content at scale.
Machine translation is a draft. Names, dishes, local terms and humor often come out wrong or flat, so have a fluent speaker read anything you publish in a language you don't know well, and keep the original quotes from interviews alongside any translation.
