The Mediterranean is famous for being one of the most popular destinations in the world for tourists around the world. This is because the diet of a Mediterranean cuisine is known to prevent cardiovascular disease, great for weight loss, as well as fighting other adverse health effects.
The Nordic diet, characterized by whole grains (oats, rye), root vegetables (turnips, parsnips, beets), fish (herring, salmon, mackerel), and low-fat dairy, very much resembles the previously mentioned Mediterranean diet in terms of the health benefits, being locally grown, and containing no additives.
Veggies such as sweet potato, melons, as well as grains, and fruit make up more than 70 percent of the Okinawan diet, the rest being comprised of rice, soy, and seaweed. Why? Because the lack of red meat in the diet. Too much red meat is responsible for a number of health ailments, as is found in many Americans.
Indian food is full of ingredients such as curry, ginger, and turmeric – which just so happen to be very effective at fighting Alzheimer’s. Recent studies even showed that the rates of Alzheimer’s in India are four times lower than in America, which is attributed to that fact that people in India eat 100 to 250 milligrams of curry everyday.
Everyone knows that Italian food is full of tomatoes. But most don’t know that tomatoes are full of lycopene. And lycopene has been shown to help protect women from breast cancer. In fact, it’s been shown effective in preventing many other forms of cancer, which is why cancer rates are typically lower amongst Italians.
Mexican food is full of slow-release carbohydrates. These such foods include beans, tomatoes, and ground corn, which of course Mexican food is full of. Slow-release carbohydrates have been proven to lower blood sugar and even help reverse diabetes.
